RELATED SKILLS
Fluent in Spanish; conversational French; piano technique; business management experience. My teaching Philosophy
Creating an environment that is conducive to learning is essential in a private voice, piano, and guitar studio. Because lessons take place in a one-on-one setting, it is especially important to foster open and effective communication between the student and teacher. One way I encourage this is by regularly inviting feedback from students and, when appropriate, parents—whether through conversation, written check-ins, or digital communication. It is important that students feel comfortable expressing questions, concerns, or goals, and that they understand that no question is too small or unimportant.
Equally important is ensuring that students feel safe, supported, and respected during their lessons. In a private studio, this means creating a space where students can take risks, make mistakes, and grow without fear of embarrassment or judgment. I emphasize respect not only for the learning environment, but also for each student’s individual pace, background, and musical preferences. I strive to lead by example by maintaining a calm, encouraging, and professional demeanor, addressing challenges constructively and without discouragement.
Ultimately, while developing musical skills is a central goal, I believe that teaching extends beyond music itself. In my studio, I strive to teach the whole person—encouraging confidence, self-discipline, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts.Alex Hackett

My Teaching Philosophy
At the foundation of my pedagogical approach is a deeply rooted belief that the education of a student should
be holistic, touching upon not just the intellectual facets but also nurturing their emotional and social realms.
Education, in its truest essence, should be a transformative journey, shaping not just the mind but also the
heart. This is especially true in the world of typography and design, a discipline that stands at the nexus of
creativity and communication.

Education, in its truest essence, should be a transformative journey, shaping not just the mind but also the
heart. This is especially true in the world of typography and design, a discipline that stands at the nexus of
creativity and communication.
My mission, as an educator, is not merely to guide students in the technicalities
of typography but to curate an environment where they can appreciate its broader implications. Typography,
in its multifaceted glory, acts as a bridge. It connects the aesthetic world of art with the functional domain of
readability, creating a unique platform for introspection and understanding. Every curve, line, and space in a
design can tell a story, reflecting societal nuances and revealing personal sentiments. As we embark on this
enlightening journey through typography's landscapes, students are encouraged not just to sharpen their
design techniques but to also delve deep, discovering the societal underpinnings and the intimate expressions
that inform every artistic choice they make.

Central to this journey is my effort to foster an environment where
every individual feels free to share, discuss, and evolve their ideas, ensuring that the classroom becomes a
dynamic space of collective growth and innovation.
